Founder/Principal
Attorney Bruce Harvey has devoted more than thirty years to the defense of those accused or charged with one or more criminal offenses. His practice has taken him to both federal and state courts in more than twenty states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Mr. Harvey is known for his expert and unwavering advocacy on behalf of every client, the numerous high profile defendants he has represented, as well as the those who attract less publicity. Mr. Harvey has acted as lead counsel in a minimum of one pro bono death penalty case each year throughout his career.
Mr. Harvey is a frequent lecturer and panel member in seminars on constitutional and criminal law throughout the country. As a past president and lifetime member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Mr. Harvey is often included as a speaker and panel participant at seminars for both organizations. Mr. Harvey lectures regularly at Institute of Continued Legal Education Seminars and has taught courses at Georgia State University. Other speaking engagements include the Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers in Oregon, Maine, Alabama, Louisiana and Utah. He is a fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the District of Columbia Bar. Mr. Harvey is a mentor for the Georgia Trial Skills Clinic and a judge for the annual National Mock Trial Competitions.
For his work on death penalty cases, Mr. Harvey received the Thurgood Marshall Award presented by the New York State Bar. In 2008, he was selected as a member of the National Security Seminar at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Named one of Georgia's Top Lawyers, he also has achieved SuperLawyer status. Mr. Harvey has been featured in Atlanta Magazine, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and was named one of Georgia's 100 Most Influential People by Georgia Trend Magazine.
Mr. Harvey received his Juris Doctor degree in 1977 from the University of Georgia School of Law and Master of Business Administration in 1973 from the University of Georgia. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from North Carolina State University where he was a member of the swim team.
Senior Associate
Attorney Jennifer Hanson, a native of Atlanta, joined Bruce Harvey's law firm in 2001. She is now Mr. Harvey's Senior Associate, handling all criminal matters ranging from misdemeanors to major felonies. She was first drawn to criminal law in 1994 when she worked at Tulane's Criminal Law Clinic handling conflict cases for indigent defendants in Orleans Parish, Louisiana.
Ms. Hanson received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1995 and her law degree from Tulane University in 1998.
Ms. Hanson is a member of GACDL (Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers) and NACDL (National Assocation of Criminal Defense Lawyers). She is licensed to practice law by the Georgia Bar.
Defense Attorney
Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Julie joined the firm in 2006.
Ms. Hojnacki pursued under-graduate studies at both Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. She received a B.A. from Boston University in International Relations (with a minor in French), graduating cum laude in 2003. She obtained her J.D. from the New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts in 2006.
Julie is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. She is also a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) and completed GACDL'S 8th Annual Bill Daniel Trial Advocacy Program.
Defense Attorney
As the newest member of Bruce Harvey's team, Ms. Cornwell joined the firm in 2010. She relocated to Georgia in 2005 from Southern California and has focused exclusively on criminal defense cases since 2006.
Ms. Cornwell received her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University in 1982 and her law degree from New York Law School in 1987.
Ms. Cornwell is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, State Bar of California, and the State Bar of New York.
She is also a member of GACDL (Georgia Association Criminal Defense Lawyers) and GABWA (Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys). Ms. Cornwell is also licensed to appear in federal court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Finding a violation of his constitutional right to a speedy trial, the trial court granted Mr. Shirley's motion to dismiss indictment. Although the state appealed, Shirley's motion to dismiss was affirmed. |

James Ward appealed his guilty verdict on charges of malice murder and aggravated assault. Because the trial court excused a juror during ex parte proceedings in the absence of appellants and without appellants' knowledge or consent, The Georgia Supreme Court reversed and remanded for a new trial. |
| State of Georgia v. Keith Owens, Jr. | Charges ranged from murder to felony murder to aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The Verdict: Not Guilty on all 8 counts. |

On August 20, 2009, the jury found Mr. Phillips Not Guilty of Aggravated Battery; Not Guilty of Burglary; and Not Guilty of Terroristic Threats. |
| United States v. Gareth Lewis |
Agents found 4000 kilograms of cocaine on Mr. Lewis' boat. Mr. Lewis plead guilty to one count of information -all other charges were dismissed. |
| State of Georgia v. Xavier Walker |
On November 9, 2007, the jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty on all 9 counts for Mr. Walker. |
